Leonid Group have been retained to search for a Trade Compliance Manager based in Sharjah, UAE.

Purpose of the role:

 

  • You will report directly into the Chief Compliance Officer and develop a Trade Compliance Program to operate within the Compliance Function, that will allow the company to identify risks associated with Trade Compliance and prevent and mitigate risks
  • Provide management with advice related to the above-mentioned topics and work closely with Operations to ensure full compliance with local and international regulations governing these files
  • Responsible for developing and drafting policies, Standards and Procedures related to Trade Compliance.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Hold strong business relationships/partnerships with various stakeholders of the Trade Compliance Due Diligence Tool at all levels (including but not limited to Operations, Logistics and Procurement) to help facilitate successful implementation of the Trade Compliance Program
  • Develop knowledge of Import and Export regulations in the countries where the company operates, to be able to provide guidance and support to the operations
  • Monitor Trade Sanctions and Embargos imposed on different countries and provide guidance and support to operations
  • Develop sound knowledge of the company's operations to be able to identify the red flags and to prevent and/or mitigate the risks associated with Trade Compliance
  • Develop and implement a tailor-made training program for identified targeted employees on different Trade Compliance program elements
  • Liaise with Group Internal Audit and Compliance in developing a Trade Compliance auditing program.

 

Knowledge & Qualifications:

 

  • Strong understanding of the Import & Export global and local requirements
  • Strong understanding of the Trade Sanctions and Embargos
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain operations, including logistics and customs clearance
  • Legal, Audit, Business or Economics degree, complemented by
  • Working knowledge of the Compliance discipline, particularly in relation to the delivery of robust Compliance programmes

  • Critical judgement/analytical skills and ability to quickly identify and understand trade compliance related risks
  • Credibility in discussions with the business and functions
  • Knowledge of the company's Supply Chain function and overall operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders, such as trade compliance services providers, clients and company employees
  • Excellent presentation and listening skills
  • Outgoing, excellent team building skills, ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity
  • Fact based approach and attention to detail – comfortable operating in a detailed, fact-based environment
  • Strong organisational skills and drive
  • Ability to prioritise workload and deal with conflicting priorities
  • Conscientious and methodical with excellent attention to detail, highly organised and capable of managing conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in working alongside a team of professionals with diverse competencies and experience (e.g.: Accountants, Internal Auditors, Engineers, Lawyers, Finance, etc.)
  • Experience of working with different geographies and multicultural environment
  • Experience in dealing with third parties’ providers of compliance related services.
  • Understanding of the business risks and the internal control environment
  • 10-15 years of experience in Trade Compliance
  • Oil and gas experience desirable.
