Leonid Group is privileged to be retained by a leading pharmaceutical company to hire a Senior Risk Manager based in Munich, Germany.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Risk, the Senior Risk Manager will play a critical role in leading Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) activities across the EMEA region. The position will be responsible for driving risk identification, assessment, reporting, monitoring, and mitigation activities across a complex and highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Working closely with senior leadership, business unit leaders, and functional stakeholders, the successful candidate will help embed a strong risk culture and support informed decision-making across strategic, operational, regulatory, and commercial activities. This is a highly visible role with significant exposure to regional and global leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution and continuous enhancement of the EMEA Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring alignment with global ERM methodologies and standards.
- Coordinate enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, prioritization, and monitoring activities across multiple countries and business functions.
- Facilitate risk workshops and discussions with senior stakeholders to identify emerging and evolving risks.
- Develop and deliver high-quality risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive management, regional leadership teams, and governance committees.
- Monitor and assess key pharmaceutical industry risks, including regulatory compliance, product quality, pharmacovigilance, supply chain resilience, business continuity, cybersecurity, ESG, and strategic business risks.
- Support risk mitigation planning and challenge business owners to ensure effective risk management practices are implemented.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Quality, Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, and Operational teams to strengthen governance and control environments.
- Support scenario analysis, risk trend reporting, and emerging risk assessments across the EMEA region.
- Promote risk awareness and contribute to the continued development of a strong risk culture throughout the organization.
- Ensure regional risk activities comply with applicable European and local regulatory requirements and align with global corporate governance expectations.
Key Requirements:
- 8–12+ years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Compliance, or related risk disciplines.
- Experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare, medical device, or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and risk reporting practices.
- Experience engaging with senior executives and presenting risk insights to leadership and governance committees.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical industry risks, including regulatory, quality, supply chain, operational, and strategic risk considerations.
- Experience working within complex, multinational, matrixed organizations across EMEA.
- Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
- Fluent English required; German language skills strongly preferred. Additional European languages, particularly French, are advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or relevant professional certification (IRM, CRMA, CIA, CPA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent) is advantageous.
