About the company & role
An established European private equity firm is seeking a Compliance Associate to join its Compliance team in London. With offices across London, Luxembourg, Munich, Milan, Madrid and Bermuda, the organisation partners with ambitious founders and management teams across the technology, consumer, education and business services sectors, with more than €16 billion in funds under management.
Reporting to the Head of UK Compliance, you will take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day compliance activities while helping to manage and enhance the firm's Compliance Monitoring Programme. Working across a multi-jurisdictional business, you will play an important role in ensuring the firm's regulated entities continue to meet their regulatory obligations.
This is a varied, hands-on role spanning compliance monitoring, the firm's Code of Ethics, regulatory calendars and filings, expert network approvals and call chaperoning, Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) processes and regulatory developments. You'll also support the preparation of internal compliance reports, memos and conflict notes, as well as reviewing existing policies and procedures and drafting new documentation where required.
You'll work closely with teams across the wider business and operations functions, while building relationships with external compliance consultants, outside counsel and third-party service providers. You'll also manage day-to-day compliance queries through the team's central inbox, giving you broad exposure across the business.
What's on offer?
This is an excellent opportunity to build your compliance career within an established European private equity firm, gaining broad exposure to the regulatory and operational requirements of a sophisticated international investment business.
You'll have the opportunity to develop hands-on experience across a wide range of compliance areas, including the Compliance Monitoring Programme, Code of Ethics, SMCR, regulatory filings, policy development and regulatory change. The international structure also provides exposure to compliance activities across the UK, Luxembourg and Bermuda.
Working closely with the Head of UK Compliance and stakeholders across the business, you'll have the opportunity to build strong internal relationships while also engaging with external consultants, legal advisers and specialist service providers. The breadth of the role makes it particularly attractive for someone looking to deepen their experience within private equity or the wider alternative investments sector.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have approximately 3–5 years' experience working within the Compliance team of an FCA-regulated business. Experience within alternative investments would be particularly advantageous.
You'll have a good working knowledge of the financial services regulations applicable to UK-regulated firms, including MiFID, MAR, GDPR and AML, together with experience managing varied compliance responsibilities and working effectively within a regulated environment.
The successful candidate will be proactive, intellectually curious and highly organised, with the ability to critically assess issues and suggest practical solutions. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative, multi-jurisdictional team, adapting confidently to a varied and dynamic workload.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills will be important, alongside the confidence to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including senior management.
You'll be educated to degree level or have equivalent demonstrable academic or professional attainment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Teams, is essential. Experience with compliance software or regulatory platforms would be advantageous, as would an interest in using AI tools to improve efficiency.
