R&D Tax - Business Development Manager
We're partnering with a well-established professional services and consulting business that helps UK companies fund and accelerate their innovation. With decades of heritage, hundreds of experts and advisers, and over £1bn of global tax incentives, grants and subsidies managed each year, the firm works with some of the world's best-known brands as well as SMEs.
They are now looking for an energetic Business Development Manager to help drive the next phase of growth.
The Role
This is a client-facing, territory-based position focused on winning new R&D tax work. You will develop your own leads, arrange and attend appointments, deliver polished presentations and close contracts, while also building a network of referral partners through events, seminars, conferences and your own contacts. You will negotiate with senior management teams, with technical, legal or financial support available when needed. You will have real autonomy over how you manage your workload, working towards agreed KPIs and communicating regularly with senior managers and directors.
What you'll bring
- Proven private client or professional services experience
- A track record of taking opportunities from prospecting through to closing
- A strong understanding of the business development pipeline and how it drives revenue and profitability
- Commercial acumen and the ability to quickly get to grips with R&D tax credit services
- The confidence to persuade, influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively
- A self-driven, hungry and independent approach, with project management skills
- Knowledge of R&D tax credits, grants or sectors such as software, engineering, environment or advanced manufacturing is helpful but not essential, and full training is provided
